The planet earth is approximately 4.6 billion years of age and Man is approximately a million years of age. But what’s more controversial and funny is that man is trying to destroy it with in a twinkling of an eye.Uh! Isn’t that funny? Doesn’t it show that man has the highest degree of irresponsibility over the earth resources? Any way what is his purpose on this earth then?
It’s clearly reflected that what man is trying to do with the environment is absolutely dirty politics. In fact put African politics in perspective. By the way am not trying to be paranoid with man but the truth of reality is that he is trying to be evil with the environment in so many ways for instance put pollution levels(algal blooms) in Victoria waters, waste management in Katanga,Kikoni slums, dwindling level of trees in Uganda, noise pollution in the city in perspective. The quality of air in the city especially in the evening hours during the week days is deteriorating to mention but a few.
Honestly, what’s the fuss for over the environment .You know what? I do treasure the Stone Age man because he was a tight friend with nature, unlike man of the 21st century that is obsessed with a small god called greed that is reflected in power, politics, position, presitige, pleasure, pressure among others. This makes him a great enemy to nature.
The truth is that I have a serious premonition that in the next few years the millennium development goals will always be a dream because of the global climatic change that is making things more expensive. Put that in perspective. Also, the environment will always be at disadvantage due to the unsustainable developments that are ruling man’s conscience. It’s clearly reflected in Uganda where the policies and the legal framework protecting the environment are acting like paper tigers. A case in point is the proposed give away of Mabira forest to the so called developers, can you imagine? What’s wrong with man of these days? Is he out of his mind? At times in the things we do, we need to be reasonable with our decision making process and actions so as to conserve the beauty of nature. Literary speaking, make a critical analysis of the things that are happening in the country for example N.S.S.F saga. Let’s play poetic justice in our African politics, and then we shall live in good terms with nature.
